Inspired by a Mustang

How One Horse Sparked A Passion

This is the story of Cody. The first mustang our lead trainer gentled and worked with, he sparked a dream in her like no other horse Dani had trained before. When she saw him at auction, she second-guessed herself. He had no bids and looked terrible in his pictures. But there was something special about him and she went for him anyways. Dani was able to adopt him for $125.

When he arrived at the farm, he was curious, a problem-solver, and obsessed with getting scratches. It was love at first sight and within 3 days, Cody was following Dani around the training pen like a domestic. After working with several more, mustangs became the focal point of Daffodil Horsemanship and thus, a full-service mustang gentling and training program was born. All thanks to the heart  and trust of a mustang named Cody.

Dani's Story

From Rodeo to Cross Country

Our founder, Dani, began riding at a very young age (her mother started taking her on short guided pony rides at 6 months old!) and grew up competing in rodeo for 7 years. She went to pony camp, as many young riders do, and has tried her hand at many disciplines, both Western and English. Over the years, she has honed her skills and developed a deep understanding of horse behavior and psychology. She attended Canisius University to earn her Master of Science in Anthrozoology (the study of human-animal interactions) and has taught college courses on animal training, behavior, husbandry, and welfare along with specialized horse training courses. While teaching, she began gentling and training mustangs and, after several years, switched over to training horses full time. Now she combines her love of training and education together through camps, clinics, and more.
